The research at the institute is focusing on :

• Professorship of Energy Process Engineering and Thermal Waste Treatment: efficient and sustainable thermochemical upgrading processes (gasification, pyrolysis, coking etc.) for coal, crude oil, natural gas, biomass and waste
• Professorship for Chemical Engineering: Reaction engineering of homogeneous and heterogeneous processes, optimization of existing and development of new applications in the fields of oil processing and petrochemistry, generation of bio fuels and synthetic fuels
• Professorship of Numerical Themo Fluid Dynamics: numerical simulation of high-temperature conversion processes using sophisticated models combined with 3D CFD
